Pre-Surgical and Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Get stronger before your operation and recover with confidence after it.

About this care

Surgery is a big step, and the work you do before and after it has a real effect on how well you bounce back. Pre-surgical rehabilitation, sometimes called prehab, is physical therapy you do in the weeks leading up to your procedure. The goal is simple. We help you build strength, mobility, and confidence so you go into surgery in the best shape possible.

Post-surgical rehabilitation is the care that follows your operation. Working closely with your surgeon's instructions, we guide you through a gradual, step-by-step plan that protects the healing area, eases pain and swelling, and slowly rebuilds your strength and range of motion.

At 3DPT in Siloam Springs and Gentry, we treat the whole journey as one connected process. People who prepare beforehand often feel more ready for what comes next, and a steady, well-paced recovery helps you return to the activities and routines that matter to you.

Common questions

How soon before surgery should I start prehab?

Many people start two to six weeks ahead, but even one or two weeks can help. We will tailor the plan to your timeline and surgery date.

When can I begin physical therapy after my operation?

That depends on your surgeon's orders and the type of surgery. For many orthopedic procedures, outpatient therapy begins within the first few weeks. We always follow your surgeon's protocol.

How long does post-surgical recovery take?

It varies by procedure and by person. Some recoveries take a few weeks, while major joint surgeries can take several months. We will give you a realistic estimate at your evaluation.
